Depolymerisation of kraft lignin to obtain high value-added products: antioxidants and UV absorbers

چکیده
Abstract This study demonstrates that bio-based products of lignin depolymerisation can potentially replace common antioxidants and UV absorbers in the plastics cosmetics industries. The kraft Indulin AT was used to obtain low-MW monomers & oligomers rich phenolic hydroxyl groups. Both thermo-oxidative stability antioxidant activity significantly improved upon depolymerisation. results from oxidation induction time differential scanning calorimetry (OIT-DSC) 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) measurements show based are comparable with commercial like pentaerythritol-tetrakis-(3-(3,5-di- tert -butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propionate) (Irganox 1010). UV/vis spectroscopy investigated confirm absorption UVA UVB range (280–400 nm).

Abstract Microorganisms have evolved different systems for storing carbon during times of stress. In the cell's natural environment, the stored carbon can then be utilized for growth when other nutrients are in better supply. Storage of carbon and other nutrients is ubiquitous ...
متن کاملIsolation of Residual Kraft Lignin in High Yield and Purity
In this paper, we report on a novel residual lignin isolation method. Initially we demonstrate that, in order to cellulolytically isolate residual lignin in high yield, the cellulosic structure of the pulp should be exposed as much as possible. Consequently, we developed a two-step method that first uses a mild enzymatic treatment to render most of the carbohydrates water-soluble and remove hem...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional mass defect matrix plots for mapping genealogical links in mixtures of lignin depolymerisation products
Lignin is the second most abundant natural biopolymer, and lignin wastes are therefore potentially significant sources for renewable chemicals such as fuel compounds, as alternatives to fossil fuels. Waste valorisation of lignin is currently limited to a few applications such as in the pulp industry, however, because of the lack of effective extraction and characterisation methods for the chemi...
متن کاملBioconversion technologies of crude glycerol to value added industrial products
Crude glycerol that is produced as the by-product from biodiesel, has to be effectively utilized to contribute to the viability of biodiesel. Crude glycerol in large amounts can pose a threat to the environment. Therefore, there is a need to convert this crude glycerol into valued added products using biotechnological processes, which brings new revenue to biodiesel producers. Crude glycerol ca...
متن کاملValue Added Products from Oil Shale
Oil shale is more than an energy source. It is also a source for various valuable materials. These materials include pyridine, carbonate minerals, alumina, ammonium sulfate, phosphate, sulfur, uranium, vanadium, and zinc, to name a few, from which numerous value-added products can be manufactured. For example, catalysts are made from vanadium and zinc, while alumina is a widely used material fo...
